Amateur golfers are being offered the ultimate golfing dream by bidding online for a place in the 2004 dunhill links championship.
The winning bidder will play with the very best in golf in the prestigious invitation-only tournament, staged over the Old Course at St Andrews, the Championship Course at Carnoustie and the highly regarded Kingsbarns Golf Links from October 7-10. All proceeds from the online auction will be donated to The St Andrews Pilgrim Foundation.
With $5 million total prize money, the dunhill links championship is the richest team championship in the world. The winning bidder will join the draw for the 2004 tournament and play alongside a quality field of top professionals and leading amateurs. Previous amateur participants have included Boris Becker, Sir Bobby Charlton, Alan Hansen, Samuel L Jackson, Gary Lineker, Michael Lynagh, Sir Steve Redgrave, Jimmy Tarbuck and Tico Torres.
For golf fans this is a fantastic opportunity to play on three of the world’s greatest courses, with some of the game’s top professionals.
The winning bidder will be treated to the very best of dunhill’s world famous hospitality. The package includes one amateur spot in the 2004 dunhill links championship, five nights accommodation for two at an Official Tournament Hotel (breakfast included) and invitations to the championship's exclusive social events as honoured guests.

The 2004 dunhill links championship will return to Scotland from Thursday, October 7 to Sunday, October 10. The 72-hole stroke play golf tournament, conceived as a celebration of links golf, will be played over three of the world’s best known and respected links courses: the Old Course at St Andrews; the Championship Course at Carnoustie; and the highly regarded Kingsbarns Golf Links. With US$5 million total prize money, the dunhill links championship is the richest team championship in the world.
In order to place a bid for this auction you will be required to be a member of QXL and to have accepted and abide by QXL's Terms and Conditions. All bids placed for this auction will be subject to QXL's Terms and Conditions and the Additional Terms and Conditions ("the Additional Terms" as described on the QXL site in connection with this auction) apply in the case of the auction for the amateur playing place in the 2004 dunhill links championship.
The auction is available through the generosity of the dunhill links championship committee and is open from 26 July 2004 - 24 September 2004 in aid of The St Andrews Pilgrim Foundation.
